Select Employer Group

Denali Alaskan is a federally charted not-for-profit financial cooperative.  In order for an individual to be a member, a person needs to be an employee or member of one of your Select Employer Groups (SEG). Becoming a SEG is easy and free; it offers a no-liability relationship between and organization and Denali Alaskan which serves to promote each other through marketing and membership opportunities. Denali Alaskan currently boasts about 570 groups which make up our field of membership and we are always excited to foster new SEG relationships.

Becoming a Select Employer Group

There is a formal process in which organizations can become a Denali Alaskan SEG. Here’s how: 1) simply fill in the blanks of the SEG Questionnaire and either the Business Letter of Request or the Association Letter of Request (Association Letter is for membership based groups, i.e. clubs, churches, sports teams)* 2) Have the letter signed by the organizations manager, president, owner or HR manager, depending on the group’s structure. 3) Copy the letter off on to your letterhead, and 4) Fax the letter to Eileen Thompson at 907-222-5818. The request will be presented to Denali Alaskan’s board of directors for approval, and then forwarded onto our federal regulator, the National Credit Union Administration, for inclusion in our Charter. The process is fairly simple and takes only a few days.

Approval Process

You will be notified once approval is received. From that point, your employees and/or members (and their immediate family members) will eligible to join Denali Alaskan. Someone will be in touch with you to discuss the means of communicating this information to your staff and/or members.

For more information, contact Eileen Thompson, Marketing/Business Development Manager, at p: 907/257-7245, fax 907/222-5818 or e-mail her eileent@denalifcu.com. Mailing address: 440 E. 36th Ave., Anchorage, AK 99503-4136

*Association Letter of Requests also requires copies of the group’s bylaws.

Note: Associations or companies that have more than 3,000 members and/or employees have a different qualifying process. Contact Eileen for further details.

Other Denali Alaskan SEG benefits include a financial benefits coupon, posters/fliers and presentations from the professionals in our various departments! For more information regarding these benefits contact Eileen and Beth in the marketing department.

SEG Spotlight 3rd Quarter 2010:  Alaska Railroad

Denali Alaskan recognizes and thanks the Alaska Railroad for supporting Denali Alaskan by educating their employees regarding the significance of credit union representation.  The Alaska Railroad formed one of the original credit unions which, ultimately, became Denali Alaskan– the Alaska Railroad Federal Credit Union was granted Charter 6244 in July 1949.

Today’s Alaska Railroad Corporation is a full-service railroad serving ports and communities from the Gulf of Alaska to Fairbanks. Owned by the State of Alaska since 1985, the Alaska Railroad is a self-sustaining corporation that operates without state subsidy, and provides year-round passenger, freight and real estate services.

The Alaska Railroad is steeped in history, playing a pivotal role in our country’s military and economic endeavors, as well as in the development of the 49th state. For more information about the Alaska Railroad, visit:  www.alaskarailroad.com

About SEG Spotlight

Your business could be in our quarterly “Spotlight,” too, if it’s a Denali Alaskan SEG.  As a SEG, you are able to offer your employees or members access to the Above & Beyond service and products offered by Denali Alaskan. "Spotlight" businesses also have added financial benefits to employees/members, and added visibility for your company or organization to Denali Alaskan members.  Find out about the benefits of being in the "Spotlight" or inquire about becoming a SEG; contact the Credit Union’s Marketing Department at 257-7245 (toll-free at 1-800-764-1123, ext. 245) or via fax at 907-222-5818.
