Pull your costumes from the closet and get ready to load up your trick-or-treating bags with candy. Halloween is just a few days away, and we want to help you find some fun family events to celebrate. Here are our top picks for Halloween events in the area:

Anchorage

Nite Manor

When: Now – November 2nd, 2019
Where: Northway Mall (Northway Drive, Anchorage, AK)
Cost: $15 for admission

Visit the oldest and largest Haunted House attraction in Anchorage. Since it’s founding in 1985, the Fright Nite Manor has been spooking people across the city with 3-D rooms, clowns, mazes, and 10,000 square feet of terrifying scenes from famous horror movies. The Fright Nite Manor will make your Halloween a true adventure—if you dare to enter.

Zoo Boo at the Alaska Zoo

When: October 31sh, 2019 at 4 pm – 8 pm
Where: Alaska Zoo (4731 O'Malley Road, Anchorage, AK)
Cost: $7/child, $9/adult

Families from all over Anchorage gather each year at the Alaska Zoo for a fun night of trick-or-treating through the zoo trails. Local sponsors will host giveaways, and kids can expect to receive a lot of candy. This fun event is perfect for all ages.

3rd Annual Halloween Happenings

When: October 31sh, 2019 at 5 pm – 9 pm
Where: The Arctic Rec Center (4855 Arctic Blvd, Anchorage, AK)
Cost: $7/child under 12 years, $10/teen 12-18, $2/adult, or $40/family up to 6

Want to spend Halloween night playing carnival games and winning prizes? Halloween Happenings is the place to be. There will be raffles, an escape room, and archery tag on-site. Along with the fun activities, kids can participate in trick-or-treating.

Halloween at the Museum

When: October 31sh, 2019 at 3 pm – 6 pm
Where: Anchorage Museum (625 C St, Anchorage, AK)
Cost: Included with admission ($12 child, $18/adult)

Enjoy a fun and educational experience at the museum in celebration of Halloween. Learn at story time in the dome or a special planetarium program. Get in the spirit of the day with costumes and trick-or-treating in the galleries. Guests will later be invited for music, cookies, and “witches brew” in the atrium, and will receive candy bags when they exit. 

Malloween

When: October 31sh, 2019 at 6 pm – 8 pm
Where: Dimond Center Mall (00 E Dimond Blvd. Anchorage, AK)
Cost: $5/person

Hang out at the Dimond Center Mall for trick-or-treating and prizes. The retails stores will all be participating and giving candy to kids. Participants must register online before attending.

Fairbanks

Spooky Trail

When: October 29th, 2019 at 6 pm
Where: Sandpiper Trail - Tanana Lakes Recreation Area (4400 S Cushman St Exd, Fairbanks, AK)
Cost: Free

You never know what might be creeping around the corner at this time of year. Brave souls who with for an exciting night are invited to take a short Halloween themed hike through Sandpiper Trail. They’ll trek through the scenic trails in costume while enjoying warm beverages, trick-or-treating, and the thrills of this spooky night. For little ones who don’t enjoy the scares, a Not So Spooky Trail will be open from 6pm-7pm.

Halloween at the Museum

When: October 31sh, 2019 at 4 pm – 7 pm
Where: UAF Museum of the North (1962 Yukon Dr, Fairbanks, AK)
Cost: Free

The University of Alaska, Fairbanks museum is once again opening its doors to the public on Halloween. Guests can see bugs, bats, bones, and birds; chat with staff about the collections; and sport their best costumes. Admission is free, but attendees should bring a canned food donation for the Fairbanks Community Food Bank.

Trick-or-Treat with the Nooks!

When: November 1st, 2019 at 4 pm – 7 pm
Where: Carlson Center (2010 2nd Ave, Fairbanks, AK)
Cost: Admission to the game ($10-$25.25)

Keep Halloween going the next day by bringing your costume to the Alaska Nanooks vs. Bemidji State hockey game and participating in some special Friday trick-or-treating. Local youth organizations have partnered together to pass out candies to costumed trick-or-treaters. All ages are invited to participate.

Kenai

Trick-or-Treat at KRC

When: October 31st, 2019 from 4 pm – 7 pm
Where: Kenai Peninsula College (156 College Rd, Soldotna, AK)

This popular campus tradition will once again be happening this Halloween. The public is invited to join in on a night of trick-or-treating at Kenai Peninsula College. Families can travel from office to office, receiving free candy in a fun and safe environment.

The Ghost Train

When: October 31st, 2019 from 5 pm – 9 pm
Where: Brew602 (43540 Whistle Hill Loop, Soldotna, AK)
Cost: $3/person or $15/group of 6

If you’re looking for a thrill on Halloween, The Ghost Train is the place to be. It’s like what you’d expect from a haunted house, only with the added excitement of a train. Two trips will take place during the night. For younger children, there will be a G rated adventure from 5-6. For teens and adults looking for a real scare, there will be a PG-13 rated version from 7-9 pm. Guests will each receive a goodie bag and have the option of purchasing espresso or waffles.

Trick or Treat Alley

When: October 31st, 2019 from 5:30 pm – 7 pm
Where: North Peninsula Recreation Service Area (55176 Poolside Ave, Nikiski, Alaska)
Cost: Free

Head over to the Annual Indoor Trick or Treat Alley at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center. This free event is sure to be a blast and score lots of candy for the kids!
